The PTO welcomes all of our students, parents, and teachers back to school for an exciting year! Please let us know if you have
any ideas or suggestions to help make this a great year for our students. We are always looking for new activities, projects,
and fund raisers. Send any suggestions to your child's teacher in an envelope marked "PTO."

AR READING JAR
PTO will be sponsoring AR JARS this year. Students in K-5 who score 80% or better on their AR test will get to enter one chance
for each point earned (half points will be rounded up)into their class AR JAR. Every Thursday, chances will be collected, and
PTO will draw and award prizes. Each Friday, ten winners from a variety of grade levels will be announced.
ALABAMA/ AUBURN COIN DRIVE- Nov. 1 -16

Start saving your loose change! Our second annual Iron Bowl Coin Drive is in progress! Alabama and Auburn jars will be placed
in each classroom and money will be collected to keep a running tally of which team is in the lead! Teachers supporting the
WINNING school will get to throw a pie in the face of the teachers supporting the LOSING team at a school wide assembly. Start
saving now! Roll Tide and War Eagle!

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCTION

We are still collecting box tops. The Box Tops Co. will award schools up to $20,000 per school year, so keep sending them to
school. Please cut around the coupons neatly and place in a ziploc bag or envelope with the student's name, grade, and
teacher's name on the front. Please leave these in the box in the front lobby. We are offering a special treat to the K-5 class with
the most box tops collected at the end of every nine weeks.

GRANDPARENT'S DAY -Sept. 7

Our Grandparent's Day Celebration will be Friday, September 7th. Grandparents are invited to come eat lunch with their
grandchild and/or grandchildren and visit in the classroom before or after lunch. Grandparents are also invited to read a book to
the class if they'd like. If a grandparent is not available, students are encouraged to bring a special relative.

HAT PASS DAY -Sept. 28, Oct. 26
Students can wear a hat to school with the purchase of a $1.00 pass in the front lobby.
INK CARTRIDGE RECYCLING
Please send in your old ink cartridges for recycling. Our school gets money for them AND you are helping the environment!
These can be placed in the plastic container inside the front entrance.
JINGLE BELLS SHOP- Dec. 17 & 18 from 8:00-2:30 and Dec. 19 from 8:00-12:00
The PTO will host the annual Jingle Bells Shop for all students in K-6 who wish to finish their holiday shopping. Students
can shop for that special gift for their parents, grandparesnts, brothers, sisters, friends, teachers, or EVERYBODY on their list.
All students will come to the Jingle Bells Shop next Monday with their classes and cac also return on Tuesday or Wednesday
with their teacher's permission. We will have volunteers at the shop to help the students with their shopping list and gift
wrapping. A price guide and shopping form will be sent home Friday, Dec. 14 to assist your child with their shopping.
PIZZA HUT BOOK IT!- Oct. 1- Mar. 31

From October 1, 2006 until March 31, 2007 PTO and the library will sponsor the PIZZA HUT BOOK IT ! program. This is a reading
incentive program designed to motivate children to read more by rewarding them for their reading accomplishments. The
monthly reading goal for each student will be 300 minutes of reading or listening time and can be accumulated on the We're

home reading record sheet. When your child has accumulated 300 reading minutes, he or she will receive a
coupon for one personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Students may only receive one Pizza Hut certificate per month.

Coupons will be given out until the end of March when the Pizza Hut Book IT! program ends. Coupons are valid for 30 days from
the date of issue and ALL coupons are void after May 1, 2007.

RED RIBBON WEEK - Oct. 23-31

Theme: "Drug Free--- The Healthy Way to Be!"

Most activities this week will occur during PE time, since we are promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical fitness. We will
alsosponsor a coloring contest in each grade level. Exercise or sport coloring sheets and contest guidelines will be given out in
class. All winners will recieve a certificate and small goody bag, and their winning pictures will be displayed at school.

TALENT SHOW- Auditions Nov. 7-8, Performances Nov. 19-20

Cedar Bluff's Got Talent!!!

Students can sign up with Ms. McGinnis to participate in the try-out session held the first week in November. Tryouts will be held
Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 8 from 3:00-4:30. Please be sure your act follows the guidelines sent home
before fall break and are well rehearsed.The show will be Nov. 19th (evening show) and Nov. 20th (school performance). All |
students participating in the show (not contest) will receive a t-shirt and certificate. Entry fee is $5 per student and will be
collected during try-outs.

WAL-MART PLASTIC BAG RECYCLING- Sept. 1- Nov. 30

Wal-Mart is sponsoring a recycling program from September 1st through November 30th. Any kind of plastic shopping bag can
be recycled. Just send your bags to school, and we'll take care of the rest! NOTE: Please no bottles, jugs, orother type of plastic.
The following prizes will be awarded to the schools who bring in the most bags: First place, $1,000; Second place, $500; and
Third place, $250.
