Cosmetology students are trained in all areas required by the Alabama Board of Cosmetology/State Board in order to be certified. State Board of Alabama requires students to have 1500 hours. The students are trained in three levels. Cosmetology I is beginning first year students who earn 500 hours. Cosmetology II students may begin working in the lab also earning an additional 500 hours. Cosmetology III is advanced students chosen by the instructor to gain their last 500 hours to pursue their career in cosmetology. Hours acquired as a Junior and/or Senior are transferrable to postsecondary schools.

Alabama Board of Cosmetology/State Board - Body of all cosmetology departments in the State of Alabama. State Board is used only for those pursuing in Cosmetology. This is a process in which you absolutely have to go through in order to be considered a legal Cosmetologist.

What is Cosmetology?

Cosmetology is a profession in which there is a very high demand in today's society. Cosmetology is open to every one both male and female who has an interest in hair styles, fashion, and nails. Personal hygiene and good grooming are also very important. To be a professional you must look and act professional. This course provides education in the scientific study of beauty culture with instruction in the care and beautification of the hair, skin, and nails. Practical skills and related knowledge are taught through theory classes and laboratory experiences.




What are my prospects?

Cosmetologists today have the potential for enormous growth and success as they take on expanded roles, in which have been brought about by the new skills, tools, and products used in today's society. A career in cosmetology will demand a lot of a profession in this field. A licensed cosmetologist will have the skills to be a talented hairstylist, nail technician, personal service expert, businessperson, self-promoter, as well as a poised and well-groomed salesperson. The opportunity for success continues to grow daily.


What are the admission requirements?

Students admitted to the Cosmetology program at CCCTC must:
-Have an interest in working in the Cosmetology field.
-Be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior
-Have good attendance habits.


What does it cost?

The cost of the cosmetology program is $55.00 per year.
