Technology Enrichment for Classrooms (TEC SHOP)

 
SUMMER 2008 WORKSHOPS

Technology training workshops this summer will cover the following topics. Various incentives will be awarded at each workshop and participants will be entered into a drawing for other technology items at the end of the summer. Most workshops will be held twice in different locations. You can view a complete schedule and descriptions on the calendar link below.

INTERNET FILTER

The new Internet filter will offer options for faculty and staff to override currently blocked content. Please be aware that you must use your network username and password. Students should not have access to this information. Your username and password should be used by you only - do not share your login information with students or other faculty members.

The following tutorials will explain how the filter override will work. (NOTE: You may have to click the security warning bar under the Internet Explorer toolbar to "Allow Blocked Content" in order to view the tutorials.)

Internet Explorer 7

For all Windows XP computer users: Sometime after December 3, 2007, your Internet Explorer will be upgraded to version 7. Version 7 contains tabbed browsing and other changes. Read the information sheet below if you want to learn more about IE7. If you need training, contact Rhonda Clark at the Technology Office. Read over the information sheet below to learn more about the new browser upgrade.

Office 2007

The productivity suite standard for CCBOE has been Microsoft Office Pro 2000 until now. A recent update to Office 2007 has caused many to experience growing pains in learning to use the new Office user interface and in dealing with file compatibility issues.

Both versions of MS Office, along with other productivity software, will be utilized by various faculty, staff, students, etc. You will need to be aware of compatibility issues associated with your particular software and the other programs.

Online training in Moodle is available for Office 2007 that includes two lessons each for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher. Contact Rhonda Clark if you need login information.
