Civics Test

New for 2018-2019 Seniors

On April 20, 2017 the State of Alabama approved Act 2017-173, which requires all students to successfully pass a civics test as a required component for completing the 12th grade Government course. This course is a requirement for earning an Alabama high school diploma. The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions used by officers of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services as the basis for granting US citizenship to non-citizens.
In order to take the civics test, students must have already completed or currently be enrolled in the 12th grade Government class. All Cherokee County Schools have scheduled the first administration of this test for Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Students who do not obtain a passing score may retake the test until he or she passes the test.
